Question: Is my move considered a local, or long-distance move ?
Answer: Every move that the distance is more than 200 Miles is considered Long distance move by DC Movers.

Question: Will the company send someone to look at the house or the apartment, will it cost anything?
Answer:  DC Movers, Inc, does provide an on site moving estimate, we will be able to send a professional moving estimator, that will actually make an inventory list of all the items to be moved, will estimate the number of boxes that will be necessary for the move, and provide you with a binding not to exceed estimate, the visual moving estimate, is free for 4 bedroom and up apartment/house, for smaller loads, we do online/phone estimates, you can also schedule an on site estimate for smaller loads, with a charge that will be deducted of the price quote, if you choose to use DC Movers as your carrier. Question: Is free storage provided and, if so, for how long ?
Answer: DC Movers, does provide free storage for long distance moves only, for up to 30 days, in our storage facility.

Question: Can clothing be transported in bedroom drawers or does it have to be packed in boxes?
Answer: All drawers, Armoires and dressers must be free of any content, in order to be considered safe before moving.

Question: What size truck will be used for the move (one household, or multiple households) ?
Answer: DC Movers, inc uses 26Ft trucks for local and long distance moves, unless a larger truck is necessary for the move, on deliveries we usually use larger trucks (trailers, 52Ft).

Question: Does the company use any tie down system to secure the furniture within the truck when transporting items ?
Answer: In some furniture such as beds, sofa, and piano's we do use strips to secure the items to the truck, see our Moving a piano guide.

Question: Does the company charge by weight, cubic foot, or hourly rates? If by weight, is the price quoted per pound binding Will the truck be weighed at a government regulated weigh station ? Will I receive a copy of the certified weight certificate with the weight of the vehicle, and my contents ?
Answer: In local moves DC Movers,Inc charge by an hourly rate which is binding, it means that the price per hour is fixed and will not change.
In Long distance moves we charge by the actual volume you take up on the truck (Cubic feet), we provide a legal copy of the inventory list we make upon loading any item to our truck, the volume is very easy to measure (Width X Length X Height=Cubic Ft)

Question: If the weight/volume of the contents is less than your estimate, will the price per pound/cubic feet increase ?
Answer: No, the rate per of cubic foot we provide is fixed.

Question: If the company charges by the hour, are there any other costs other than disassembling, loading time, driving time, reassembling and unloading time ?
Answer: Yes, if our crew will need to use packing supplies, such as bubble wrap, shrink wrap, tapes, or boxes in order to protect your items during transport those will be charged extra, if on the pick up or delivery you have stairs or elevator that will be charged extra, if our truck will not be able to park within 75 feet of your house/apt you will be charged extra for "long carry".

Question: Are there any additional charges for stairs, long-carries, night time, or weekends ?
Answer: Part of this question is answered on the previous question, we do not charge extra for night time or weekends.

Question: Can the company pick up and deliver on the dates and times requested (i.e. within a window of time, 2:00 - 4:00, or 9:00 - 11:00 etc.) ?
Answer: Our standard delivery time frame is between 1 and 21 business days guaranteed, however we do our best to deliver by the customers preference if possible, if you need a specific delivery day and time, we define that as an "Expedited delivery service" and it is charged extra, ask your moving consultant.

Question: Is there any discount for senior citizens on a fixed income ?
Answer: DC Movers, does respect senior citizens and provides 5% discount.

Question: Please explain how the 400-N tariff works.
Answer: 400-N tariff is a new software by the AMSA that will minimize the chance of billing errors.

Question: Does the price quoted include all labor costs, fuel, tolls, mileage and taxes ? Does it include door to door moving service, truck, professional movers, wrapping furniture and large items with moving pads (blankets), disassembling and reassembling furniture (if needed) at the destination ? Are there ANY additional, hidden charges that may apply?
Answer: The price does include all labor costs for loading and unloading, wrapping furniture blankets, disassembling and reassembling furniture (if needed), it does include fuel, tolls on the way mileage and taxes, it does include D2D (door to door service, the truck and our professional movers).

Question: Does the company require a deposit ? Am I required to pay for half of the move up front and the balance on delivery, or how do you charge? What forms of payment are accepted by the company ?
Answer: DC Movers, Inc does require a first payment of 30% upon reserving Local and state to state moves.
For local moves we require the balance upon unloading, with a credit card, cash or money order.
For state to state moves we require 50% of the total bill after deducting the first payment upon pick up, (can be paid with cash, Visa/MasterCard or money order, personal checks are not allowed), and the balance upon delivery (Cash or money order only).
